Wishes do come true

Yesterday I wished for a warmer day... and today we got one truly wonderful spring day. This one was without rain, hail or freezing wind, so I feel lucky indeed. We drug the plants from their semi protected winter places and placed them all around our driveway which we use as a patio with just enough room to park the vehicles without blocking the sidewalk. John rescued a dogwood tree from the dump (K called it the pound, haha) and we have given it a new home. I hope it does well. I can't believe someone just threw it in the dump. That kind of hurts my feelings. It feels good to be getting things cleaned up and ready to grow. The lilacs are going to bloom this year and all the hydrangeas are looking great. Now we have to figure out how to keep the deer from eating everything in sight.

I was able to spend some time at the library too, so it's been a very nice weekend. I do have a headache however. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with photo sensitivity. If I can't be in the sun I think I might die.

March must have been... something.

Hey, I'm back. It's been about a month and a 1/2 since I last blogged. I think March was stressful at least at work, which tends to influence the rest of my life. Considering I spend the majority of my life there it's no wonder that my creativity has come grinding to a halt and I've mostly been coming home watching TV and going to bed. It's been so long since I blogged that I couldn't even remember my blog account name... hahaha, stress does wicked things to the mind!!

There were however a few highlights in March. J had her art & cupcake party which was super fun for me. My friends came down from Portland to hang out and we all went to the coffee shop together. I was so happy that J & K could meet... you guys are too great! (Bummed I missed Kristine though, another time). J even made me my favorite kind of cupcake (cherry chip...OMG!) with fancy frosting and decorations. They were so pretty and the whole thing was great fun.

John also finished his final project & graduated.

After a long and cold/dreary winter, the cherry trees are blooming... this is one of my favorite things of all time. Seeing the petals snow down and cover the road and then the wind blowing them around makes me happy. While we were driving up I-5, we had to stop along the road to take a picture of the beautiful daffodils. Now if it would only get warmer... Happy spring!!

An unhappy Ode

So I'm not really here to tell you how to do your job,
but I do have a few very reasonable and realistic expectations...
Is it really too much to ask for a little extended overtime on the job?
I would really like to capture life's irreplaceable moments,
like this weekend at my art class. It's a one time deal, man...
it's not like we can order up a "do-over"...
but no, somebody has to get all moody and refuse to offer any assistance in the way of power... yes power, that's your job isn't it?
And don't go and get all technical with your "I gave you a warning" speech. I get a few red flashing lights and then... nothing, the silent treatment.
I thought we had a better relationship than that. Apparently I was mistaken. You quit, so this is it... we're done... I've moved on and I'm replacing you with someone more reliable. The red head, or as you know him...
The Copper Top Battery

Battery, oh battery how I hate thee battery... why do you fail me so frequently and without warning, why?

I'm stuck...

I have a space, supplies, time... and no inspiration to create. I'm really looking forward to my collage class this weekend. I'm hoping that it will get me inspired to create again. Then maybe I can work on some valentines day cards. I had such a great time last year making cards at J.'s house that I can't bear to miss that opportunity. I tried to make Christmas cards, but that didn't quite work out this year. Hey, J. do you have some of that linen thread? oh I guess it's too late unless I see you at LCC. Have a great class this weekend and print, print, PRINT :)

It's a new month

oops... look at that... it's been a whole month away from the blog. What's been going on? (Well I've missed my office mate while she was on her art vacation, sorry for not keeping up J) but here's a summary.

1. Went to the family post christmas gathering and successfully made it through.

2. Finally got a "new" old car as a replacement for the one my darling husband burned up the engine.

3. Took the train up to PDX and went to the birthday party of my best friend, went out to brunch, and then went to a cat show!!

4. Oh and not to forget the post holiday party at work which featured a white elephant gift exchange AND karaoke by members of the staff... wow... that's all I can really say about that.

I must go to bed now, but rest assured I will be back soon to tell tales of my recent poetry class, and the upcoming collage class that is happening this weekend. I'm very excited about it, but a little nervous about it. Sure wish you were coming with me J.
Good night
